Overview
North Korea operates Soviet SA-13 Gopher (9K35 Strela-10) short-range mobile air defense systems. The SA-13 uses passive infrared and optical tracking to engage low-flying aircraft and helicopters without emitting radar signals, making it harder to detect with anti-radiation missiles. Mounted on an MT-LB tracked chassis, it provides mobile air defense for armored formations. The system carries 4 ready missiles and can engage targets at up to 5 km range and 3 km altitude.
