NCSIST Tien Kung III

Overview

Taiwanese indigenous long-range surface-to-air missile system providing homeland air defense against Chinese aircraft and missiles. Tien Kung III (Sky Bow III) represents latest evolution of domestic air defense development. Features active radar homing missiles, range 200+ km engaging aircraft and potentially ballistic missiles, mobile launchers providing survivability, modern radar and command systems. Deployed protecting strategic installations including airfields, command centers, critical infrastructure. Complements US-supplied Patriots providing layered air defense. Critical for defending Taiwan against Chinese air superiority attempts and cruise/ballistic missile attacks. Continuous upgrades maintain capability versus evolving threats. Represents Taiwanese determination for critical capabilities despite foreign restrictions. Production provides ammunition stockpiles impossible through imports alone. However, effectiveness versus mass Chinese attacks uncertain requiring comprehensive integrated air defense.
