Domain: air
Country of Origin: France / UK / Italy / Germany
Manufacturer: MBDA
Overview
The most advanced beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) in Western service, featuring a unique solid-fueled ramjet propulsion system that provides a "no-escape zone" three to six times greater than conventional solid-rocket BVRAAM. Active radar seeker with home-on-jam capability, two-way datalink for mid-course update, and an advanced proximity/impact fuze with blast-fragmentation warhead. Range exceeding 150 km. The ramjet maintains high energy throughout the flight envelope, providing kinematic superiority over all competing missiles at long range. Integrated on Rafale (France), Gripen, Typhoon, and F-35. A six-nation European collaborative programme led by MBDA.
