Morocco operates the M109A5 155mm self-propelled howitzer as its primary heavy artillery system, procured through US Foreign Military Sales. The M109 Paladin family is the standard NATO self-propelled artillery platform used by dozens of nations. The A5 variant upgrades the chassis and automotive systems but retains the 39-caliber barrel. Morocco uses the M109A5 for fire support to its armored and mechanized brigades, with the system capable of employing standard NATO 155mm ammunition including Excalibur precision-guided shells.
