Overview
The New Zealand Light Armoured Vehicle (NZLAV) is the New Zealand Army's primary armored fighting vehicle — a locally designated variant of the General Dynamics LAV-III 8×8 wheeled armored platform. The NZDF operates approximately 105 NZLAVs in multiple variants including the 25mm Bushmaster-armed IFV, command, mortar, recovery, and ambulance configurations. The NZLAV has been operationally tested in East Timor and Afghanistan, providing New Zealand's ground forces with mechanized mobility and protected firepower. The vehicle shares its platform with the Canadian Army LAV 6.0.
