Overview
Next-generation conventional submarine designed to succeed the Kilo class with improved stealth, automation, and combat systems. Features air-independent propulsion (AIP) in planned variants, reduced crew through automation, LIRA combat management system, and Kalibr missile capability. Lead ship Sankt Peterburg had extended testing; follow-on ships Kronshtadt and Velikiye Luki feature improvements.
