Overview
The Kurganets-25 is Russia's next-generation IFV intended to replace the BMP-3. It features the Epokha unmanned turret carrying a 30mm 2A42 cannon, Kornet-EM ATGM, and 7.62mm coaxial machine gun. Protection is dramatically enhanced over BMP-3 with modular composite armour providing STANAG 4569 Level 6-equivalent (30mm AP) ballistic protection plus mine/IED protection. The vehicle weighs ~25 tonnes. An APC variant carries 8 dismounts vs the IFV's 6. Despite repeated showcasing since 2015, serial production has not commenced due to cost, complexity, and engine development issues. BMP-3 production continues as the stop-gap.
