Overview
INS Vikrant (IAC-1) is India first indigenously designed and built aircraft carrier, constructed at Cochin Shipyard. Displacing 45,000 tonnes, it operates MiG-29K fighters and Kamov Ka-31 helicopters using a STOBAR (Short Take-Off But Arrested Recovery) configuration. Its commissioning in 2022 made India the sixth nation to design and build its own aircraft carrier.
