Overview
The H-6N is an upgraded variant of the H-6 bomber (derived from the Soviet Tu-16) specifically modified to carry and air-launch the DF-21D carrier-killer ballistic missile and other air-launched ballistic missiles. It features in-flight refueling capability (a first for Chinese bombers), an enlarged belly recess replacing the bomb bay for the missile, and modernized avionics. The H-6N extends China's nuclear delivery options and carrier strike threat.
