Overview
Enhanced evolution of the proven FREMM (Fregata Europea Multi-Missione) frigate design, incorporating lessons from the 10-ship Italian FREMM programme and featuring significantly upgraded combat systems. Displacement of approximately 7,000 tonnes. The EVO variant features the Leonardo KRONOS Power Shield dual-band AESA radar (combining C-band and X-band arrays), an enlarged SYLVER VLS capacity for Aster 30 Block 1 NT extended-range missiles, Teseo EVO Mk2/A anti-ship/land-attack missiles, new Oto Melara 127/64 LW Vulcano gun, enhanced ASW suite with bow-mounted and towed array sonars, and provisions for 2x NH90 helicopters. The FREMM EVO is also the basis for the Indonesian FREMM order. Represents the pinnacle of European frigate design combining multi-mission capability with proven hull form.
