Overview
Morocco operates one Floréal-class light surveillance frigate (Hassan II), a vessel type originally designed for the French Navy for overseas patrol duties. Delivered to Morocco around 2002, the Floréal class provides long-endurance ocean patrol, helicopter operations, and light surface warfare capability. While lightly armed compared to combat frigates, the vessel provides Morocco with the ability to sustain distant patrols in the Atlantic and support humanitarian missions. The French origin provides familiar maintenance and logistics support.
