Overview

Thai indigenous multiple rocket launcher system representing domestic defense industrial achievement and operational capability. DTI-1G and more advanced DTI-2 developed by Thai Defense Technology Institute with production beginning 2010s. Features 122mm rockets with 20-40 km range, wheeled launcher providing mobility, locally produced ammunition, potential for guided munitions integration. Designed for artillery support providing saturation fires against area targets. Domestic production provides industrial base, employment, technology development, avoids foreign dependence for basic capabilities. Deployed by Royal Thai Army for conventional operations and potentially counter-insurgency support. However, limited range and precision compared to modern Western systems. Represents Thai defense industrial ambitions pursuing self-reliance in basic military requirements. Continuous upgrades including potential precision munitions maintain relevance. Symbolizes Thai determination for defense sovereignty despite limited industrial base.
