Overview
The BTR-82A is a modernized Russian 8x8 armored personnel carrier developed from the BTR-80 series. Compared to its predecessor, it adds a 30mm 2A72 autocannon replacing the 14.5mm KPVT, improved CBRN protection, upgraded KamAZ-740.14 diesel engine producing 300 hp, and reinforced welded hull. Fully amphibious with water jets, the BTR-82A provides infantry with protected mobility. Azerbaijan fields it for mechanized infantry transport alongside BMP-3 formations.
