About Iranian Defense Industries
Iran's defense industrial complex encompasses multiple state-owned organizations including the Defense Industries Organization (DIO), Iran Aviation Industries Organization (IAIO), Iran Helicopter Support and Renewal Company (IHSRC), HESA (aircraft manufacturing), and the IRGC Aerospace Force's drone and missile programs. Iran has developed significant self-sufficiency in UAV production — the Shahed-136 loitering munition gained global notoriety after widespread use in Ukraine by Russian forces. Missile programs include the Shahab series (Scud derivatives), Sejjil solid-fuel MRBM, Fateh series TBMs, and Kheibar Shekan MRBM. The Mohajer and Shahed UAV families are the most widely exported Iranian defense products.
