About AIDC (Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation)
The Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) is Taiwan's state-owned aerospace and defense manufacturer. AIDC developed the Ching-kuo Indigenous Defense Fighter (IDF) — Taiwan's only locally designed fighter, entering service in 1994 — and performs licensed production and maintenance of F-16s for the Republic of China Air Force. AIDC also manufactures the AT-3 jet trainer, F-5E Tiger II (licensed), and turboprop trainers. AIDC is currently developing an indigenous supersonic advanced jet trainer and participates in the F-16V upgrade program. The National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) develops Taiwan's missiles and sensors while AIDC handles platforms.
